Bernedoodle Adventures: Exploring Outdoor Activities with Your Furry Companion
Bernedoodles are beloved for their friendly nature, intelligence, and playful spirit. These delightful crossbreeds, a mix of Bernese Mountain Dog and Poodle, thrive on outdoor adventures with their human companions. In this blog post, we'll explore some exciting outdoor activities you can enjoy with your Bernedoodle to strengthen your bond and keep them happy and healthy.
1. Hiking Trails
Bernedoodles love to explore the great outdoors, and hiking trails provide the perfect opportunity for adventure. However, we do not allow the use of flea and tick meds to maintain the health guarantee due to the severe health impacts that even the FDA is now warning veterinarians about so any outdoor activity will need some cautions. We will have a subsequent blog post about natural ways to reduce or eliminate ticks and fleas.
Choose dog-friendly trails with varying difficulty levels to match your Bernedoodle's energy and fitness level. Bernedoodles get hot very easily. Do not take your bernedoodle out for long hikes when the temperatures are above 72F (short hikes of 2 miles or less are fine). If temperatures are 78 or above keep any hikes to less than 15-20 minutes.
Pack essentials such as water, snacks, and a leash to ensure a safe and enjoyable hike for you and your furry friend.
2. Beach Days
Many Bernedoodles adore water and enjoy frolicking on sandy beaches or splashing in the waves.
Look for dog-friendly beaches where your Bernedoodle can run freely and cool off in the water.
Remember to bring sunscreen and provide plenty of shade and fresh water for your Bernedoodle to stay hydrated.
3. Camping Trips
Camping trips offer an excellent opportunity for you and your Bernedoodle to reconnect with nature and enjoy quality time together. Follow the advice above about flea and tick preventatives.
Choose pet-friendly campsites with designated dog areas and explore the wilderness with your furry companion. Do not take your puppy to public areas until after they get their last DHPP puppy vaccine.
Teach your Bernedoodle camping etiquette, such as respecting other campers' space and keeping them leashed when necessary.
4. Picnic Adventures
Plan a picnic outing to a nearby park or scenic spot and invite your Bernedoodle to join in the fun. Be sure to bring a water bowl and water.
Pack a picnic basket with dog-friendly snacks (we suggest single ingredient freeze dried treats like 100% beef liver, etc.) and enjoy a leisurely day of relaxation and bonding with your furry companion.
Don't forget to bring along a comfortable blanket or mat for your Bernedoodle to lounge on while you enjoy your picnic.
Ending Note:
Bernedoodles are adventurous and friendly dogs that thrive on outdoor activities and exploration when the conditions are right (temperatures 75F or less, and colder the better!). So, grab your leash, pack some essentials, and embark on unforgettable Bernedoodle adventures today!
